San Diego Comic-Con 2025 Trailer Roundup: Tron, Peacemaker, Freddy’s Frights

San Diego Comic-Con 2025 Trailer Roundup: Tron, Peacemaker, Freddy’s Frights
  • PublishedJuly 28, 2025

Jordan Collins here, okay, I’ll explain, but try to keep up. San Diego Comic-Con 2025 unleashed an arsenal of trailers that you probably need spelled out step by step. From the neon grid of Tron: Ares to the jump scares of Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, here is everything you might have missed if you blinked.

The blockbuster buzz began with Disney’s Tron: Ares trailer. Starring Jared Leto, Evan Peters and Greta Lee, the footage picks up a decade after Tron: Legacy and dives into a cutting-edge AI advancement program gone rogue. Set for an October 10 theatrical release, the trailer teases a digital battleground where identity and code collide. Jeff Bridges, who reprises his iconic role, admitted on July 25 that Leto “went full method” on set, insisting everyone call him by his character’s name, Ares. As Bridges put it, “I know your name is Ares. Can I call you Air?” After all, who needs real names when you have digital avatars, right?

Not to be outdone, Disney also unveiled the first look at Season 2 of Percy Jackson & the Olympians. Based on The Sea of Monsters, the trailer hints at epic sea quests and mythic battles, promising new gods and monsters as Percy (Walker Scobell) navigates treacherous waters. Disney confirmed this season will drop on December 10 via Disney+.

Over on the HBO Max stage, John Cena strutted out in full Peacemaker costume to debut the second season trailer of his self-titled series. Premiering August 21, the new episodes send Chris Smith rocketing from the DCEU into an alternate DCU dimension. Expect more punchlines, more action, and certainly more Cena flexing those meta-muscles.

Finally, horror fans got their fix with Five Nights at Freddy’s 2. Starring Josh Hutcherson, Matthew Lillard and Elizabeth Lail, the sequel trailer delivered plenty of animatronic terror and unsettling set pieces. The chilling footage confirmed a December 5 theater release, just in time for winter nightmares.

Other highlights included new looks at The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 3 (September 7 on AMC and AMC+), Spinal Tap II: The End Continues (September 12 in theaters), and Interview with a Vampire season 3 (early 2026 on AMC). Genre fans can also mark their calendars for The Strangers – Chapter 2 on September 26, Spartacus: House of Ashur arriving winter 2026, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy in early 2026, and Strange New Worlds season 4 on Paramount+. Animated series Hazbin Hotel season 2 drops October 29 on Prime Video, while The Mighty Nein premieres November 7 on Apple TV+. The Legend of Vox Machina season 4 is slated for 2026 on Prime Video, and another HBO Max release follows in October 2025.

There you have it. You probably should have already known this, but now it’s all spelled out in brutal detail.

Hope that cleared things up.
