Selena Gomez’s Unexpected Biscuits and Gravy Wedding Dessert

My coffee cup is trembling from excitement because Selena Gomez just upended wedding dessert expectations. The Only Murders in the Building star revealed on a July 26 Rare Beauty TikTok that when the big day arrives with fiancé Benny Blanco she does not want a traditional cake.
“Whenever that day comes, I do know I don’t want a big cake,” Gomez said, tossing aside centuries of tiers and frosting. Instead she wants a taste of hometown comfort: her nana’s biscuits and gravy. Yes biscuits and gravy as dessert, which she insists is sweet enough for her after-party.
Of course the 33-year-old is still honoring one cake ritual. For their first anniversary she plans to freeze a mini cake just for her and Blanco. “I think I want a mini one for just us that we can freeze,” she explained, blending quirky fun with a nod to wedding tradition.
Their romance has been peppered with foodie gestures from day one. As Blanco recalled on The Howard Stern Show in May 2024, for their first Valentine’s Day as a couple he arrived at her door with a deep fryer, fried pickles, Taco Bell favorites, Hot Cheetos and even a nacho machine. The couple bonded over these culinary surprises, which sealed a sweet spot in her heart.
This year Blanco dialed up the romance even further, filling Selena’s bathtub with queso and spelling out “I love you” in tortilla chips on her bathroom floor. He shared the saucy snapshot on Instagram, quipping that his fiancé isn’t much of a flowers girl. Selena gushed back in the comments, “I love everything ’bout this.”
Cooking prowess is one of Selena’s favorite things about Blanco. She told E! News in December that having a talented chef at home is intimidating but thrilling: “I have a very good cook in my house. It’s intimidating cooking for him for sure, so I let him do all that.”
Selena and Benny’s relationship officially began in July 2023, around her birthday, but they fueled romance rumors late that year and confirmed their engagement in December. Selena even shared an Instagram Story photo of herself leaning into what appeared to be Benny’s chest and later showed off a bejeweled “B” ring. They’ve packed on PDA at Lakers games, art exhibits, and on social media, making their foodie-filled love story a fan favorite.
From saucy nacho baths to gravy-smothered biscuits, Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco have turned mealtime into memories. Their unconventional dessert pick just proves they march to the beat of their own mixing spoon.
