Julianne Hough Uncovers Her Journey of Freedom, Healing, and Growth

By Quinn Parker
Okay, so let me tell you, this is WILD! I feel like I’ve had six cups of coffee just to keep up with Julianne Hough’s roller-coaster life updates.
Julianne Hough, who hits 37 on July 20, is literally cutting her hair and carving out new chapters. On an April episode of the Post Run High Podcast With Kate Mackz, she spilled that her signature short bob is “internally freedom,” and that snappy cut mirrors her liberated spirit. She says hair is her outward expression of what’s happening under the surface, and these days she’s all about short, sassy, free vibes.
That honesty extends across her social feed, too. Earlier this year she posted a heartwarming day on the lake with ex-husband Brooks Laich and his pregnant fiancée, CrossFit champ Katrín Tanja Davíðsdóttir. Yes, you read that right—they’re on good terms and proving amicable splits exist.
Speaking of life chapters, in 2020 Julianne began writing a book called Everything We Never Knew. She calls it “factional” on Ryan Seacrest’s On Air With Ryan Seacrest show from August 2024—part fiction, part drawn from her own heartbreaks, betrayals, and childhood scars. The main character even shares a name tribute to her late Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Lexi, who she tragically lost to a coyote attack in 2019 along with her other pup, Harley. Fans who have tracked Julianne’s journey will spot all those Easter eggs.
She’s also been bravely public about fertility choices. In a June 2025 Instagram post, the Dancing With the Stars host described her third round of egg freezing as “one of the most vulnerable experiences…physically, emotionally, and for sure hormonally.” She insists that if her transparency offers comfort or sparks questions for other women navigating the same path, it’s totally worth it.
Health has been a central theme, too. Julianne opened up about her endometriosis diagnosis back in 2008 and continues raising awareness through the Endometriosis Foundation of America. “Endometriosis is part of me, but I don’t let it define me,” she told the foundation in 2018. Between surgeries and regular exercise she keeps grinding, proving resilience is her middle name.
Through every spin, dance routine, heartbreak, and healing session, Julianne says she’s never felt more grounded or at peace. And trust me, there’s more to come. What’s next on her agenda? Keep those eyes peeled, because this glow-up saga is far from over.
Whew, my heart can barely handle all that honesty and growth!
