Suki Waterhouse Opens Up on Tight Pants Hernia and Hospital Stay

Suki Waterhouse Opens Up on Tight Pants Hernia and Hospital Stay
  • PublishedJuly 14, 2025

Another day, another wardrobe cautionary tale. Suki Waterhouse just revealed that six months ago she ended up in the hospital after squeezing into pants so snug they led to a hernia. The Daisy Jones & The Six actress took to X on July 14 to explain her social media silence with a candid post: “Suki you never tweet anymore. Have you ever considered I wore pants so tight 6 months ago it caused a hernia & I’ve been too scared to tell you?” She backed up her words with a selfie snapped from what appears to be a hospital bed, complete with an IV line peeking out from under the covers.

The 33-year-old performer also shared a flashback to one of her Memoir of a Sparklemuffin tour dates, rocking skin-tight black leather pants, a white crop top, and a matching bedazzled coat. That very outfit, she admits, was the culprit behind the gap in her abdominal muscle that landed her in emergency care. While she’s been laying low on social channels, her voice is now back on deck as she prepares to hit the stage again August 7 in Aspen, Colorado.

This revelation arrives more than a year after Suki welcomed her first daughter with fiancé Robert Pattinson. Although the couple have kept their baby girl’s name under wraps, Suki told E! News in September that motherhood has been a whirlwind: “I’m just absolutely obsessed with her. She’s turning over, sitting up, trying to crawl, doing all the things.” Robert later shared with Vogue that the famous new-parent scent isn’t just baby powder—he can actually identify their daughter by her unique aroma. “I thought they were just smelling the baby powder,” he said, “but then I had a baby, and I was like: ‘My baby smells incredible.’”

Suki’s hernia update is part of a growing trend of celebrities speaking out about unexpected health scares. In April, Brian Austin Green revealed on Instagram that he was recovering from surgery after a nearly burst appendix nearly ruined his spring. Comedian Adam Devine has also been vocal about chronic pain following a childhood accident, describing ongoing spasms on In Depth With Graham Bensinger. And Bachelor alum Jason Tartick recently shared that back pain from an RV trip forced him to the ER crawling on all fours, as he recounted on his Trading Secrets podcast.

From leather pants gone wrong to emergency appendectomies and back spasms, our favorite stars are reminding us that no one is immune to real-world health hiccups. Suki Waterhouse is now on the mend and counting down to her next live show. Keep your leggings comfy and your health in check, because if a trend this tight can cause a hernia, anything’s possible.

Anyway, that’s her story. Keep your wardrobe stress-free.
