Gavin Casalegno Learns Romance Lesson from Summer I Turned Pretty

Gavin Casalegno Learns Romance Lesson from Summer I Turned Pretty
  • PublishedJuly 12, 2025

Another day, another actor preaching real-life romance wisdom. Gavin Casalegno is stepping off the Prime Video set of The Summer I Turned Pretty and straight into relationship seminars, courtesy of his character Jeremiah Fisher’s messy love triangle. With the third and final season arriving July 16, Casalegno sat down with E! News to reveal that his on-screen heartbreak has one big takeaway: communicate early and often.

Casalegno, 25, explained that viewers have watched Jeremiah juggle feelings for his brother Conrad, played by Christopher Briney, and longtime friend Belly Conklin, portrayed by Lola Tung. “Communication is probably the biggest thing to take into a relationship,” he told E! News. He pointed out how little half-truths on screen led to awkwardness, drama, and heartbreak as Jeremiah failed to share his true feelings. Having tied the knot with his real-life love Cheyanne Casalegno last November in an outdoor ceremony, Gavin insists he is determined to avoid those same pitfalls at home.

But Brenda Stark contrast to the idea that talking fixes everything, Tung, 22, argued that listening matters even more. In an interview with Seventeen, she asserted that the trio’s characters often leap to conclusions instead of hearing one another out. “A lot of the time these characters will not talk at each other but sort of jump to conclusions,” she said. She admitted her own stubborn streak can lead her to assume intentions before giving someone the courtesy of real listening.

As the cast wraps this four-year journey on Cousins Beach, they also indulged in some future matchmaking daydreams. Casalegno hopes Jeremiah blossoms into a confident adult who seizes life’s opportunities. Briney joked that Conrad could end up orbiting Earth as an astronaut. Tung laughed that Belly will remain true to herself, traveling the world—perhaps even in space.

Off-screen, the lead actors’ love lives reflect similar growth. Tung, currently single, revealed to Seventeen she’s learned to ease up on herself. Portraying Belly taught her to embrace mistakes as part of growing up. Meanwhile Briney celebrated his “feelingsiversary” with actress-singer Isabel Machado in May after dating since 2021. He marked their first anniversary with a heartfelt social media post captioned, “a whole year!? i could never want anything else.”

Casalegno himself has already crossed the aisle. He and wife Cheyanne said “I do” last November during a picturesque outdoor wedding. Now he’s taking Jeremiah’s missteps as a reminder to keep those lines open with his spouse.

And there you have it, folks—a fictional love triangle handing out real-world relationship homework. Don’t worry, no extra credit required.
