Kelce Dismisses Spotlight-Seeking Claims About Swift Romance

Kelce Dismisses Spotlight-Seeking Claims About Swift Romance
  • PublishedJuly 1, 2025

Cut through the noise: Travis Kelce addressed head-on the chatter that he and Taylor Swift are prowling for publicity. During a July 1 episode of the “Bussin’ With the Boys” podcast, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end rejected the notion that he and the pop superstar intentionally court attention when they step out together. “It gets thrown out there as it’s like we’re trying to seek attention every now and then,” Kelce told hosts Chris Gronkowski and Rob Gronkowski, “but we’re just enjoying life and having fun going to hockey games, introducing her to more of the sports world.” His closing line? “We’re having fun with it, man, being a couple.”

Since Swift first appeared in Arrowhead Stadium last fall, speculation has swirled over whether her presence overshadows the game. In a December 2023 interview with TIME, Swift admitted she can’t control endless camera cuts: “I don’t know how they know what suite I’m in. There’s a camera a half-mile away, and you have no idea when the camera is putting you in the broadcast.” She insisted, “I’m just there to support Travis,” adding with a wry smile that if a few “dads, Brads, and Chads” get peeved, that’s on the network, not her.

Kelce and Swift unveiled their media-defense plan at a January 2024 press conference: tune out the “outside noise.” “As long as we’re happy, that’s all that matters,” Kelce declared, according to E! News. Highlighting their unshakable bond, teammate Patrick Mahomes told NBC Sports that same month, “He’s still Travis Kelce—treating every person like a best friend, on the field or in the locker room. The spotlight hasn’t changed him.”

Their whirlwind courtship began in July 2023 when Kelce tried (and failed) to deliver a friendship bracelet at Swift’s Eras Tour stop in Kansas City. On his New Heights podcast, Travis admitted he was “a little butt-hurt” that Taylor didn’t speak before the show, since she needed to preserve her voice for 44 songs. Undeterred, he threw his next pass on The Pat McAfee Show: “I threw the ball in her court. I told her, ‘You rock the stage at Arrowhead, you might have to come see me rock it.’” By August training camp, a mustachioed Kelce was officially introduced to Swift backstage—and the rest is headline history.

From hockey nights to Chiefs games, the pair refuses to play by the paparazzi’s script. Their message? Live your life, love your partner, and shrug off the haters. And there you have it—stay tuned to see what these two do next.
