Lizzo Ditches Ozempic: Meat Over Meds Sparks Her Weight Loss Success

Lizzo Ditches Ozempic: Meat Over Meds Sparks Her Weight Loss Success
  • PublishedJune 19, 2025

Brace yourselves for another round of “doctor knows best until steak enters the chat”: Lizzo just fessed up to sampling Ozempic and its GLP-1 cousins—and promptly sent them back to the pharmacy once she figured out that old-fashioned protein did the trick. According to E! Online, on the June 19 episode of the Just Trish podcast, the 37-year-old Grammy winner admitted she “tried everything,” including those pricey diabetes drugs that have half of Hollywood cutting carbs and carrying needles in their purses. But it turns out that the real miracle cure wasn’t a pharmaceutical one—it was chewing on actual meat.

Lizzo explained to host Trisha Paytas that Ozempic “works because you eat less food” by triggering fullness, but if you can achieve “mind over matter,” the injections are basically an overpriced crutch. She confessed that her vegan days had her gorging on fake meats, bread and rice just to stay satisfied—and expanding her stomach in the process. Swapping in whole foods like beef, chicken and fish? Suddenly she was full on sensible portions and finally saw the scale budge.

Never one to throw shade at fellow drug-takers, Lizzo also urged haters to stop calling Ozempic “cheating.” “It’s a drug to help somebody with something they’re struggling with,” she said, accusing critics of thin-privilege fat-phobia. And she’s got company: comedian Rosie (per her #mounjaro Instagram reveal) has credited Mounjaro for her dramatic drop since late 2022; Meghan Trainor and hubby Daryl Sabara detailed their micro-dose Mounjaro regimen on the Workin’ On It podcast; former reality star Kendra Wilkinson took exactly one unnamed injectable before dumping the rest amid horror-story warnings on her Instagram Stories; and even a Golden Globes host on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon called for no-judgment openness around Ozempic use, calling the shame “only from thin people who want you to stay fat.”

So here we are: stars weighing in on needles versus natural eats, influencers preaching self-control over subscriptions. Will our next dinner convo be about serrano-ham wraps or self-esteem? Only time (and our stomachs) will tell. And that’s today’s dose of reality. You’re welcome.
