Inside the Pre-Planned “Saga Blade” Baby Name Drama

Inside the Pre-Planned “Saga Blade” Baby Name Drama
  • PublishedJune 18, 2025

Spare me the suspense, but Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly apparently locked in their daughter’s name years before she even arrived. In a world where celeb baby reveals are treated like national emergencies, these two decided to get extra meta by choosing “Saga Blade Fox-Baker” on the down-low back in 2021—proof courtesy of a resurfaced Couples Quiz clip.

According to a 2021 GQ Couples Quiz video (GQ via E! Online), Fox casually quizzed MGK—real name Colson Baker—on what his “ideal middle name” might be, since he revealed he doesn’t technically have one. Spoiler alert: when she guessed “Blade,” he lit up like a kid spotting free pizza and declared, “That’s what I want.” Any hopes for more exotic options? Fox tried to sell him on “Sword” and even “Katana,” but the Bad Things rocker was having none of it. Blade won, end of story.

Fast-forward to June 17, when MGK dropped the bombshell via Instagram: “Saga Blade Fox-Baker,” he captioned a clip of him playing guitar for his off-camera newborn (MGK’s IG, as reported by E! Online). He even thanked Fox for “the ultimate gift,” because nothing says true love like name-locking three years in advance. Before you accuse them of corporate co-branding, note that Fox—who shares three sons with ex Brian Austin Green—actually endured a heartbreaking miscarriage with Baker in early 2023. She opened up about that on Good Morning America in March 2023, calling the loss “much harder” than expected and revealing how it sent them both spiraling through a “wild journey” of grief and introspection (Good Morning America via People Magazine).

Of course, their relationship has been a highlight reel from day one. They met on the set of Midnight in the Switchgrass in 2020, went Instagram-official that July with MGK’s romantic selfie caption “Waited for eternity to find you again…,” and made their red carpet debut at the American Music Awards. Fox even filed for divorce from Brian Austin Green the same month, upping the drama dial to eleven. They’ve since celebrated birthdays, Halloween parties (Pamela and Tommy Lee, anyone?), Grammys date nights, engagements in early 2022, and more red carpets than most movies have scripts.

Despite splitting in December, the duo remains oddly united in baby-naming superstition. Fox memorialized her pregnancy announcement last November with a now-deleted post reading “Nothing is ever really lost… Welcome back,” a thinly veiled nod to her prior miscarriage. And now Saga Blade is here, pre-scripted and ready to roll.

So there you have it: a Hollywood baby name prophecy fulfilled before the ink on the contract even dried. Popcorn, anyone? That’s today’s dose of reality. You’re welcome.
