Erik Per Sullivan’s Harvard Ambition: From Child Star to Master’s Degree

Oh joy, another celebrity trying to redeem themselves through higher education. Erik Per Sullivan, best known for his role as Dewey on the hit TV show Malcolm in the Middle, is now pursuing a master’s degree at Harvard University. Because, you know, being a child star just wasn’t enough. Bryan Cranston, Erik’s on-screen dad, spilled the tea on the Fly on the Wall podcast, revealing that Erik is not only smart but also actively working on his master’s degree.
Let’s be real, who wouldn’t want to leave the chaos of Hollywood behind and dive into the world of academia? Erik apparently left the entertainment industry in 2010 and has been focusing on his education ever since. When Bryan shared the news about the Malcolm in the Middle revival, Erik politely declined the offer to return, citing that he hasn’t acted since he was 9 years old. No surprise there, considering Erik’s clear priorities.
The revival, which is set to feature the original cast except for Erik, will see Frankie Muniz reprising his role as Malcolm, along with Justin Berfield, Christopher Masterson, and Jane Kaczmarek returning as the rest of the Wilkerson family. Erik’s role will be recast with Caleb Ellsworth-Clark, because who needs continuity, right?
On a more interesting note, the revival will also introduce new faces, including Anthony Timpano as Jamie, Malcolm’s youngest brother, and Vaughan Murrae as the sixth child. With Frankie Muniz expressing his excitement for the revival, it’s clear that this show has a lot of potential.
In other entertainment news, TLC is premiering a new show called Virgins, which follows four adults navigating love, intimacy, and self-discovery in their 30s and 40s. Because who doesn’t love a good awkward dating story? Acorn TV’s Art Detectives is another new show worth checking out, featuring art-loving detectives solving murders connected to the world of art and antiques.
And that’s today’s dose of reality. You’re welcome.
