Chris Childs Questions Kylie Jenner’s Knicks Lucky Charm Status

Chris Childs Questions Kylie Jenner’s Knicks Lucky Charm Status
  • PublishedMay 16, 2025

OMG, I’ve had so much coffee that my couch is practically vibrating—and guess what’s got me buzzing? Former Knicks guard Chris Childs is officially side-eyeing the chatter that Kylie Jenner is New York’s new good-luck talisman. In a May 15 interview on ESPN Radio’s “Courtside Chatter,” Childs—who lit up Madison Square Garden in the late ’90s—poured cold water on the social-media-driven hype about Jenner’s court-side glamour translating into W’s. He chuckled, “She’s got style for days, but wins are brewed from defense, hustle and Coach Thibodeau’s plays”—a no-nonsense reminder that superstition doesn’t make three-pointers.

Fans have been flipping out ever since Jenner was snapped at two straight home games, rocking custom Knicks merch and dropping three Instastory shout-outs in 48 hours. The New York Post flagged her post-game caption, “Nothing but net, baby!” as the sparks that ignited a city-wide belief in her Midas touch. Meanwhile, TMZ ran clips of fans chanting “Kylie! Kylie!” in the stands. But Childs wasn’t impressed, telling ESPN Radio, “A win streak isn’t a trend—it’s work. These kids are grinding every night, they don’t need fairy dust.”

Even seasoned reporters at People Magazine weighed in, noting that Kylie’s evolving from beauty mogul to basketball bandwagon-er has turned the Garden into part fashion show, part hype factory. Yet, as The Post points out, Knicks faithful remember that true momentum comes from consistency, not celebrity sightings. Childs doubled down: “I love seeing New York come alive, I really do—but let’s keep the record straight. If she’s our MVP, I can’t wait to see her in the locker room.”

Speculation aside, Jenner’s attendance has coincided with a modest four-game winning streak. Social trends have followed suit—#KylieKnicks is trending on Twitter, and Etsy sellers are hawking custom “Lucky Jenner” tees for $35 a pop. But Childs urged patience: “Give it six months. If the runs keep rolling and she’s courtside every time, maybe there’s something cosmic going on. Until then? We’re just making highlights.”

So, will Kylie morph from cheerleader-in-chief to bona fide basketball mascot? Only time (and more lattes) will tell. I swear, I could gab about this all day, but my iced mocha’s melting—and honey, that’s a crime in my book!
