Josh Hartnett Defies Age with High-Flying Stunts in “Fight or Flight”

Josh Hartnett Defies Age with High-Flying Stunts in “Fight or Flight”
  • PublishedMay 6, 2025

Just when you thought Hollywood had peaked in desperation, Josh Hartnett decides to risk life and limbs at 46—because, of course, sanity left the building a long time ago. During a May 5 Q&A in New York City, the actor confessed he “was super excited” to dust off his stunt chops for Fight or Flight, the action‐comedy in theaters May 9. He hasn’t attempted a single stunt since age 29, so trusting him to leap through airplane aisles and slug assassins feels like admitting we’ve run out of younger bodies. Director James Madigan admits warning him about the “very tight schedule” and limited prep, yet Hartnett insisted on doing every punch and dive himself. Miraculously, “a hundred percent of the stunts that you just saw, Josh did,” Madigan crowed (People.com, DOTdash Meredith feed). Of course, he had a crack team backing him up—led by stunt double Clayton Grover—who “guided me through everything” so he wouldn’t wind up six feet under, Hartnett added. Because nothing says “exciting comeback” like a bespoke stunt plan for a middle-aged star who may regret his life choices by takeoff. Co-stars Katee Sackhoff and newcomer Charithra Chandran round out the cast of mercenaries and international assassins trapped on one doomed flight, penned by Brooks McLaren and D.J. Cotrona. The official synopsis promises relentless mid-air brawls and a high-value target known only as The Ghost, but let’s be honest—this is just another notch in Hollywood’s belt of thin excuses to sell overpriced concessions. Hartnett’s bravado may keep the stunts authentic, but if history teaches us anything, someone will end up in the hospital or filming outtakes nobody asked for. At least the PEOPLE newsletter and app promise more celebrity updates to distract us while we wait for the inevitable production mishap. So buckle up, because this isn’t just fight or flight—it’s a test of our collective willingness to watch a 46-year-old relive his stuntman glory days. Anyway, can’t wait for the inevitable “I told you so” when this spirals further out of control.
